The Richmond Fine Dentistry team are highly trained and adhere to a stringent hygiene and safety policy, which exceed Australian standards. All our staff members undertake ongoing safety training, medical emergency procedures and follow regulations meticulously. Your safety is the highest priority.
We use the latest sterilisation autoclaves and all instruments are bagged and tracked.
All medical instruments are heat sterilised in the latest state-of-the-art autoclave high-pressure steam sterilisation units from the USA. Disposable instruments are used when possible and disposed of in special medical waste containers.
Visit our sterilisation centre
You are welcome to ask any of the Richmond Fine Dentistry team for a tour of our centre at any time, to see how our instruments are cleaned by our autoclave sterilisation unit.

We have installed a central vacuum system for our office and laboratory to eliminate dust, odours and aerosols, making the Richmond Fine Dentistry office allergen free. Please ask for an inspection of this system, we are proud of it. It is unique and a first in dental surgeries.

Amalgam Waste Management
Richmond Fine Dentistry has adopted best practice for preventing waste amalgam and mercury escaping into the water supply. This is achieved by an appropriate standard amalgam separator as advised by the Australian Dental Association and Melbourne Water.
When removing an old amalgam filling all staff use personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks and protective eyewear. For patient protection rubber dam is used as an isolation technique in conjunction with dual suction evacuators to prevent any waste amalgam being inhaled or ingested.
All amalgam waste is stored on a covered plastic container as required by the Australian Dental Association and when required is directed to an approved amalgam recycler.
