Teeth WhiteningGeneral Information about Teeth WhiteningThere is increasing interest in teeth whitening and many teeth whitening products are available. Some teeth whitening products work by removing the stains that build up on the outside of teeth from smoking or drinking tea, coffee or red wine. This is the kind of stain that most teeth whitening toothpastes can remove. However, care needs to be taken in selecting teeth whitening toothpaste to ensure that the ingredients used to remove the stains are not too abrasive. Other teeth whitening products contain peroxide and lighten the colour of the tooth itself. The whitening products available in pharmacies and supermarkets do not pass the stringent Therapeutic Goods Act certification procedure and should be avoided. Temporary sensitivity is common during or after teeth whitening procedures. There are a number of products available from pharmacies and dental surgeries to help reduce dental sensitivity that can come from the teeth whitening process. For the best results, contact us at Richmond Fine Dentistry and we can advise you on the best way to make your teeth look great. In-Chair Teeth WhiteningNothing can lift your confidence and self-esteem more than a lovely, bright smile. Unfortunately, some of our favourite things, red wine, coffee and tea, in addition to food colourings and smoking are also some of the biggest contributors to teeth not looking as white as they should or once did. Having your teeth whitened at Richmond Fine Dentistry can help you recapture your captivating smile, simply and quickly. At Richmond Fine Dentistry, we use the most advanced teeth whitening system available. Quicksmile™ leading-edge technology can give you the best teeth whitening result possible in less than one hour. It is completely safe, painless and highly effective. The speed of the procedure has made it a very popular treatment option for people who are unable to spend the time with home teeth whitening systems. The formulated Quicksmile™ gel is applied to your teeth and activated by a specially developed light for eight minutes; this is repeated three or four times during your teeth whitening procedure. What makes this Australian developed system so unique is the Red SuperCool LED™ light source, which emits no UV or Infrared light, making it a safer system than other teeth whitening treatments. There is very little heat radiated from the light which results in a significant reduction in tooth sensitivity, commonly experienced by people who use other in surgery whitening treatments. To experience what an amazing difference the safe and effective Quicksmile™ teeth whitening treatment can do for your smile, schedule an assessment appointment by ringing 9429 0011 to speak with one of the Richmond Fine Dentistry team today. Take Home Teeth WhiteningIf, like many patients, you would prefer to whiten your teeth in the comfort and privacy of your own home at times more suited to your busy lifestyle, then a professional take home teeth whitening treatment from the Richmond Fine Dentistry team is for you. Using custom-made whitening trays, similar in appearance to a sports mouth guard only much finer, they are shaped from a detailed mould of your mouth. This will ensure they fit snugly over your teeth allowing for maximum contact with your tooth’s enamel while still protecting your gums. We will provide you with instructions on the use of your gel and trays so you achieve maximum results, the amount of gel to apply to your trays and how long they should be worn, usually 1 hour a day. Although it is possible to achieve the same final result using the at home system as the in-chair treatment, as the gel is not as concentrated, your desired shade may take between 5 – 12 days to achieve, however a noticeable improvement can often be seen after only a few days. The whitening gel we choose to provide has undergone extensive testing to ensure it is completely safe for your teeth and gums. The only side effect some patients may experience is some sensitivity to the teeth, this should only last for several hours following the completion of your treatment. The most common cause of ongoing sensitivity is from wearing your trays too long or overfilling the trays with gel. Should you experience severe tooth sensitivity while using your at home treatment, discontinue application for several days. The use of desensitising toothpaste and tooth Mousse can alleviate the problem of sensitivity and toughen your enamel at the same time. If sensitivity continues, contact the Richmond Fine Dentistry office immediately for advice. |
